CWGs are communities of practice created by and for our members to share expertise and engage on a diversity of topics that matter to our disciplines.
Through an evolving process of knowledge development and sharing, CWGs create a year-round space for virtual and in-person focused sessions to regularly increase engagement and communication on a variety of relevant and timely interests.

Service designing for rituals and life events
Service designers design services for different life events such as birth, marriages, death, anniversaries, graduations or even retirement. Many of the events are planned and others often not as in the case of death. In this working group we invite people to share about their research and design of rituals in services in the cases of life events. Rituals take part in the services as in a form of singing happy birthday for a birthday hero, baptism and pouring water in a head, or placing flowers on top of a coffin. We recognize how the rituals are connected in the values of the societies we live in and they are shaping the rituals of the life events. Today climate change is one that is changing the values, but also external impacts such as COVID-19 or natural disasters can induce new rituals. During the working group beyond small talks we will also have a workshop where the participants will be taking part in thinking about how they design for life events and how ritual design can play a role in the design of service systems.
