Mission Statement
The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) mission is defined as "Academic Excellence in the Service of Global Citizenship". As the first Sino-foreign university in China, it focuses on providing high-quality, English-language education and research that connects students to global opportunities while fostering a culturally diverse, sustainable, and innovative learning environment.
Key elements of their mission include:
- Global Education: Offering a tri-campus experience (UK, China, Malaysia) that combines international standards with local, Chinese context.
- Research & Innovation: Developing impactful, world-class research to foster sustainable development goals.
- Responsible Leadership: Nurturing students to become "world-ready" leaders who make positive contributions to society.
- Community Impact: Bridging cultural gaps and providing comprehensive, technology-enabled support to students and staff
International Role
All undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Ningbo are conducted entirely in English with the same teaching and evaluation standards as at Nottingham UK by staff either seconded from Nottingham UK or appointed internationally to University of Nottingham standards. The University is located in Ningbo Higher Education Park on a newly built and dedicated campus with a land area of 114 acres (584,666 square metres). It currently has around 9,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students and more than 900 teaching and administrative staff from over 70 countries around the world.
National Role
UNNC occupies a significant national role in China as a premier Sino-foreign university, acting as a bridge for education, innovation, and research between China and the UK. Established in 2004, it was the first of its kind to operate in China, pioneering a model for internationalized higher education.
