Mission Statement

At the Campus for Design, more than 1000 students
study in a lively, interdisciplinary and cultural exchange.
The course of study is practice-oriented, and there is
close cooperation between the campus and the
business community. The individual disciplines are also
strongly interconnected: creative boundaries are
cultivated so that students can work in an open and
inspiring environment. The campus has a very informal
atmosphere, students often work in teams, and a high
level of individual attention is provided by faculty. The
infrastructure of the design/artistic fields of study not
only includes classic workshops such as bookbinding,
photo studio, wood and metal workshop, but also has
3D printing labs, a portal milling machine and modern
computer pools.

International Role

Individual departments have a variety of contacts with
universities abroad. As a result, students have a wide
range of options for a semester abroad or an internship
abroad.

In addition, there is an English-language Master's
program in Gemstones and Jewellery in which almost
exclusively foreign students are enrolled.

National Role

The synergies at the Campus for Design give rise to
innovative and forward-looking projects that regularly
win national and international awards. With a large
number of recurring events, fashion shows and
exhibitions, the campus has established itself as a
creative driving force and an integral part of the urban
cultural landscape.

Main Focus

The main focus of education is in the fields
of architecture (specializing in interior
design and architecture), design
(specializing in communication design,
fashion design and intermedia design) and
gemstone and jewellery design (specializing
in gemstone and jewelry). In addition,
there is the interdisciplinary area at the
Design Campus, which includes Fine Arts and Artificial Intelligence courses and an
interlocking between the specializations.

Doctorate Level Programs

Trier University of Applied Sciences and thus also the
departments of the Faculty of Design with their individual
study programs do not have the right to award
doctorates. Nevertheless, it is possible to complete a
doctorate in cooperation with another university.

Subject Areas for Exchange Students

In general, all departments (Architecture, Gemstone and Jewellery, Interior Design, Intermedia Design,
Communication Design and Fashion Design) accept exchange students. The foreign students thus have the
opportunity, depending on their aptitude, to choose their respective focus from the entire field of study at the
Design Campus.

Application Deadlines

For all subject-related questions, the individual departments are available to the foreign students in advance. Furthermore, general questions about studying are answered by the academic international office. The deadlines for applications can vary depending on the study program. Therefore, a detailed consultation in advance is very useful.
