Mission Statement

Cheongju University was founded based on Daeseong General School in 1924, and the first university south to Han River that received government approval. The College of Arts, in particular, was set up in 1977 and has produced outstanding artists and designers by combining design, fine art, performance art, and media, connecting legacy from the tradition with values of the future.

International Role

Cheongju University has now forged partnership arrangements with 130 universities in 27 countries, and the College of Arts is working on international research initiatives proactive at its heart. In particular, the Department of Industrial Design of Cheongju University has been accredited internationally, ranked the 14th in the Asia-Pacific regional category of the Reddot Design Award and the 21st globally in the iF Design Award. Drawing upon such global accreditation, the College of Arts of Cheongju University desires to capture opportunities to make global contribution beyond local boundary and national border.

National Role

The College of Arts of Cheongju University is now participating in various projects funded by the government (the Ministry of Education / Korea Education Foundation), with its research capabilities widely recognized. In addition, the college is working on diverse public-private collaboration projects jointly with local governments (Chungcheongbuk-do, Cheongju-si, Eumseong, etc.) in a bid to find applications for academic achievements in business sites.

 

 

 

Main Focus

Cheongju University College of Arts teaches interdisciplinary knowledge to nurture global talent and provides design education that enables students to explore new design language based on harmony between reason and emotion while nurturing creativity and competency of individuals.

Research Activity and Main Areas

Conducting joint academic-industrial partnership projects for a variety of research subjects found in business sites of partner enterprises, the College of Arts of Cheongju University launched the Capston Design courses. The college is contributing to the development of local economy as a business partner of SMEs supplying to large business organizations such as Samsung Electronics and Hyundai/KIA Motors, and conducting a variety of research initiatives to identify and resolve outstanding issues of local communities through government-academic cooperation projects with local governments.
