Faculties and Departments

Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design is one of Ukraine's leading higher education institutions; since 1930, it has provided high-quality training for fashion designers and engineers specializing in the production of clothing, footwear, and knitwear. It has become a hub for Ukrainian education in the light industry sector.
The Faculty of Design was established in 2000 and continues to develop successfully. Today, it serves as a center for design education in Ukraine, training a wide range of specialists in fields such as industrial design, interior and furniture design, fashion design, and graphic and multimedia design. The faculty comprises four departments: Art and Costume Design; Multimedia Design; Interior and Furniture Design; and Graphic Design. The faculty’s teaching staff consists of leading design experts, including Doctors and Candidates of Sciences, professors, art historians, and members of the Union of Designers of Ukraine and the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.

Students follow unique curricula that meet international standards for designer training. The university features educational and research laboratories, a Student House of Fashion and Creativity (https://en.knutd.edu.ua/students/FSH/), a Museum of Costume History, the KNUTD Photography Museum, the exhibition center of KNUTD “Art Space” (https://en.knutd.edu.ua/art-space/), and more. The Faculty of Design organizes and participates in the annual International Competition for Young Fashion Designers "Pecherski Kashtany", the International Competition "Suziria "Kashtan'", the International Student Photography Contest "Hot Ice", the poster contests "Save Energy" and "Mental Health", and the Student research paper competition in the field of Art and Design, among others. The scientific journal "Art and Design" is published quarterly.

social contexts, contemporary trends, and innovations in the development of clothing for various purposes;

methods and tools for developing graphic design objects, taking socio-cultural factors into account;
artistic and communicative aspects of shaping visual content in design using information technologies;
methodological foundations for creating design objects based on the synthesis of the arts;
the fashion system as an integrated sphere of design activity.
