Team FTC 2025 invites entries for the “Functional Clothing Contest” to be held as part of the 4th International Conference on Functional Textiles and Clothing FTC2025. This unique contest aims to showcase functional clothing on the catwalk for the first time. Functional clothing could be Protective, Medical or Assistive, may enhance Sports performance or may have body shaping or any other capabilities. The functional elements should be discreet and not obvious. Innovative design, materials and construction may be used to create these clothing pieces. This contest aims to both demonstrate the possibilities of this new and exciting field and to encourage contestants to think and design creatively to incorporate functionality into clothing. Participation schedule:

Submission of Concept (By 15th September 2024)
Each entry must be accompanied by a Forwarding letter from the Head of Department.
Conveyance of Short-listed concepts : 15thof October 2024
Registration by the participants for participating in the show: 1st November 2024
Final Show: Demonstration of the final garment on the ramp (8th February 2025)
Short-listed contestants will be required to display their functional clothing live and in person at FTC 2025. Designs must be worn by a team-member/end-user who will demonstrate the ease-of-use and functionality of the clothing, while showing their design on the catwalk.

Prizes
Best three entries will be awarded cash prizes and a certificate.
Selected entries will be published in conference proceedings brought out by Springer.
All teams will get a certificate of participation.

EUROFABRIQUE ART CAMP

From 23 to 27 September 2024 during the XXIII Cerveira International Art Biennial, the Cerveira Art Biennial Foundation (FBAC) will host the third EuroFabrique Camp, comprised of workshops, walks, field work, lectures, masterclasses, screenings and art production, led by professionals in the field of art, curatorial practices and political and social activism.

Cerveira Art Biennial Foundation is inviting ten art and design schools, each proposing three participants, totalling 30 students to attend the EuroFabrique Art Camp in Cerveira from 23 to 27 September 2024.

The three students should be endorsed by the school and proposed by a teacher, who is welcome to accompany the group as an observer, travelling by their own means. In the opening days of the Art Camp, groups will be formed in order to mix participating students from each school.

We are thrilled to present the Cumulus Student Talent Camp DCS 2024 Edition Pordenone, organized in collaboration with Cumulus and the University in Pordenone. From July 14th to 20th, 2024, this unique experience will seamlessly blend theory and practice, drawing inspiration from the Renaissance workshops of Florence.

Topics and Objectives: Tackle the challenges of complex societies, exploring the socio-economic transition from modernity to digital postmodernity. Workshops focused on visionary scenarios will be led by renowned designers.

Location: Hosted at the “University Consortium” in Pordenone near Venice, with comprehensive student facilities, including prototyping labs, a library, and outdoor spaces.

Along with the opening day of the Academic Year 2023-2024, the new PhD program in Service Design for Public Sector welcomed the first students starting this adventure!

The PhD in Service Design for Public Sector is a Program including seven academic partners (Sapienza University of Rome, Politecnico of Milano, IUAV University of Venice, University of Bologna Alma Mater, Isia Rome, and Isia Florence), as well as international professors (University of Arts London, Central Saint Martins, UK; University of Lapland, Finland; Aalborg University, Denmark).

The China Fashion & Color Association has decided to hold the 2023 “Humeng Cup” Chinese -International University Color Design Competition from November 2023 to January 2024, calling for excellent entries from university students of design-related majors from domestic and international.

Competition Theme: “In the Name of Color”

Color, being a fundamental element reflecting the objective world and constructing human lifestyles, is also a prominent symbol of regional culture and the spirit of the times. As the primary element of vision, color is not only crucial for showcasing visual aesthetics and expressing emotions but also serves as a powerful tool for enhancing design creativity and even improving economic benefits. The theme “In the Name of Color” for this competition aims to lead participants from domestic and international universities to explore the endless charm and innovative possibilities of color, ignite passion for color creation, highlight individual design talent, and provide a broad platform for excellent works with features of forward-looking, clear function, distinctive visual image display, well-made, and market-promising.

Submission Period: November 30, 2023, to January 31, 2024. Entries and materials can be submitted by institutions or independent participants.
