Director, Undergraduate Studies in Fashion Design – Segovia, Spain

As a member of the IE School of Architecture and Design Team, Director of Undergraduate Studies in Fashion Design will report to the Dean and will work in coordination with the Senior Academic Advisor for Fashion Design Studies, Academic Area Directors, and other members of the team as the responsible authority for the academic strategy and delivery of the Bachelor in Fashion Design, and the dual degree Bachelor in Fashion Design + Bachelor in Business Administration.

The Director will coordinate with the commercial and admissions teams, and will be asked to participate in admissions events and activities.

He/she will design and coordinate research projects, provide academic guidance, and represent the institution in international fora. Additionally, he/she may teach courses and direct academic theses at the undergraduate and graduate level, should he/she wish to do so.

The position is located on our Segovia campus, with occasional activities in Madrid, as necessary.

Responsibilities

Your role as a Director will involve: 

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of academic quality and teaching delivery, including the effective management and development of teaching, spatial and material resources, excellent student experience and motivational staff leadership.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders at IE University, including senior staff (e.g. Deans, Heads of school, Program Directors, Admissions office, International office), with other appropriate bodies and within the IE university. Some relationships may also need to be developed with other external stakeholders, including fashion brands and associations
  • Provide the Dean, Associate Dean, and Senior Academic Advisor for Fashion Design Studies with advice and support on academic matters in light of commercial imperatives and financial targets as required.
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of new curricular and extracurricular innovations and content, including but not limed to the creation of new academic programs and specializations.

Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • Postgraduate degree or Ph.D. from a top university (in areas related to Fashion Design)
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish, and good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Curiosity, eagerness to learn, open-mindedness, and excellent teamwork skills.
  • Strong desire to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Proven relevant experience, in professional and academic contexts.
  • First-hand experience in academic research is recommended, though not required. An understanding of the nature and objectives of academic research is a must.
  • Previous managerial experience is required, preferably in higher education.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Experience in multi-stakeholder environments, as well as excellent communication skills and a strong customer orientation, are essential.
