Mission Statement

Vision 2030:
Creative Forerunner – Responsible Arctic University Community

The Lapland University Consortium (LUC) is a leader in the area of arctic research and competence. The LUC is a community formed by the University of Lapland and Lapland University of Applied Sciences with a particular focus on global arctic responsibility, sustainable tourism, future services, and reachability.

Faculty of Art and Design – Dialogue between art and science
The dialogue between art, design and science is a dynamic part of our studies, research, art and collaborations with different actors in society. The connection between art, design and science is strengthened by the fact that we belong to a multidisciplinary science university. This gives our students the chance to combine studies of design, tourism, marketing, economics, education and social sciences.

  • European Textile Network

National Role

Our creative community in the north is a significant educator in the field of art and design, as a third of the higher educated professionals in the field in Finland have graduated from our faculty.
