Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries is committed to:
- being a national centre of excellence and innovation in contemporary creative arts and industries research

International Role
Waipapa Taumata Rau | The University of Auckland is ranked 12th in Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings 2023. It is also top 100 in QS World University Rankings 2024, placed 68th in the world, the only New Zealand university in the top 100.
The Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries (CAI) has strong connections with other universities and employers, as well as creative, professional, government and business organisations throughout New Zealand and the world.
CAI is an active member of the European League of Institutes of the Arts (ELIA), the largest international organisation of multidisciplinary creative arts/industries educational institutes, with around 315 member organisations worldwide.
We also have relationships with the Glasgow School of Art and Architecture, and the Victorian College of the Arts at the University of Melbourne, as well as the various professional bodies associated with our disciplines.
National Role

Main Focus
The Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries’ teaching and research programmes span Architecture, Dance Studies, Design, Fine Arts, Music, Urban Design and Urban Planning. Staff and students in the faculty work across the collaborative environment of the university as a whole and as part of a flourishing transdisciplinary culture. The University’s creative centre, our faculty promotes artistic and professional innovation and collaboration.
