This meeting of the Service Design CWG will focus on power and power structure in service design. Service designers facilitate and orchestrate processes in which different stakeholders, and therefore different motivations, cultures, and forms of rationality are negotiated. The interaction is often based on existing social structures and therefore is influenced by power dynamics. The designer herself has a power position in organising the process, suggesting priorities, and enabling dialogues and negotiations.
How are those questions of power highlighted in service design education? Are there interesting examples to propose? What questions arise from those examples? This working group meeting aims to discuss this crucial topic and encourage the participants to present and discuss their experiences.
The workshop will be organised as follows:
14:00 – 14:10 Introduction (Nicola Morelli)
14:10 – 15:15 Presentation from the participants (Max 7 presentations)
15:15 – 15:30 Discussion and wrap up
The presenters will have a limited time, but we believe the most interesting part is the discussion they will spark, for which we want to have time.
