Job Rutgers

Job is a full professor in Design at OCAD University, Canada’s largest art & design university in Toronto, one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world. Job is a Creative Director at OCADU CO, the  futures design studio of the university, where he co-creates strategic futures with companies and not for profit organizations. Job is also a partner at OpenCity Projects, a creative studio specializing in experience design, exploring Canada’s cultural diversity as an asset for design of shared places and spaces.

In addition, he is in the ‘League of Innovators’ at the Brookfield Sustainability Institute, a global solutions studio focused on identifying, understanding and developing smart sustainable solutions to help fight climate change. Together with LCC Lecturer John Fass, he is managing the Creative Competencies Resource, a global sharing platform of teaching practices for educators in the creative arts.

Prior to receiving tenure at OCADU, Job has long been associated with Philips Design in the Netherlands as a Strategic Design Consultant. At Philips Design, he was the creative director for several multi-disciplinary research projects funded by the European Union. He co-developed the award-winning Ambient Experience Design service and has implemented ambient experience concepts in hospitals, the hospitality industry and public spaces around the world.
