Mission Statement
IIAD aims to build designers with strong conceptual and collaborative abilities. The focus is on developing the student’s voice and enabling them to find their place in the world to contribute their unique vision. Learning is through enquiry, exploration and experimentation in an open ended interdisciplinary environment.
International Role
We have an academic association with Kingston University, London which has been ranked as the #1 Art & Design school in London by The Times Good University Guide 2023. The globally-recognised course enables our students to secure coveted career as well as academic opportunities across the globe.
We have also built association with other leading universities such as University for the Creative Arts, Nottingham Trent University, Coventry University, Arts University Bournemouth and many more.
International Foundation of Fashion Technology Institutes (IFFTI) – IFFTI works currently with 61 institutions from 28 countries, is a global network of International Fashion and Textile Institutes, providing a meaningful platform that represents a diverse range of Institutions from across the world.
Owing to IIAD’s global alliances, during the course of their programme, students have the option to transfer to universities abroad to complete their studies. The curriculum at IIAD has been rigorously mapped with the collaborating universities leading to a seamless transfer in either the penultimate or final year of their specialization.
National Role
IIAD has a deep commitment to create robust alliances with leading institutions, associations and industry forums and widen its network. This gives our teaching staff and students the opportunity to participate in industry forums, academic research, conferences, paper presentations as well as consultancy projects.
Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) – The Fashion Design Council of India is a not-for-profit organization that is engaged in advancing the business of fashion in India to ensure its sustainable growth.
Association of Designers of India (ADI)ADI is a meaningful interface between design professionals, general community users, the Industry, education institutions and policy makers.
Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID) – Founded in 1972, the Institute of Indian Interior Designers globally aims to establish good professional & trade practices and ethics amongst its members.
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) – The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) works to create and sustain an environment conducive to the development of India, partnering industry, Government, and civil society, through advisory and consultative processes.

Research Activity and Main Areas
Research is an integral part of our academic ethos. Research process is embedded in each level of learning for the students. By the time the students are in final year they are ready to present their research in national and international forums. 60% of the teaching staff are involved in research in the following fields – design, fashion, textile, craft, sustainable ethical design approach. IIAD promotes research and papers have been presented in national and international conferences including Cumulus, IFFTI, IIT Mumbai, National Institute of Fashion Technology New Delhi, INSIGHT Conference, NID Ahmedabad etc
Subject Areas for Exchange Students
We are open to small modules and courses during the winter or summer break in the following areas: Craft, textile industry, dyeing units, printing units, weaving units, vernacular architecture, indigenous materials & materiality, ethical and sustainable practises within the Indian ethos, etc.
