As an association committed to art and design education and research, Cumulus organizes, takes part, and promotes competitions aligned with the association’s values, bringing recognition to our members and serving the design community through education, knowledge-sharing, and the elevation of our disciplines.
Cumulus is also proud to be a vibrant player in co-organizing and/or endorsing international art and design competitions on a selective basis throughout the year.
The Cumulus endorsement seal is given to awards that follow international best practices in jury composition, competition criteria, and intellectual property protection.

Cumulus Green
Our association’s signature student competition is open to all Cumulus member institutions.
It is organized every two years with the oversight of our President and Executive Board and the participation of an esteemed global jury of educators, design practitioners, and subject matter experts.
The competition honors the Kyoto Design Declaration legacy (2008), which champions the responsibility of designers for building sustainable societies. Since 2020, the Cumulus Green competition program has been closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by the United Nations with a universal call to action to help reimagine a better future for everyone by 2030.
