Mission Statement

Since the earliest days of Musashino Art University, our mission has been to train professionals
equipped with a good general education and of superlative character for careers in various fields of the formative arts, focusing primarily on the realms of fine arts and design. To achieve this, the
University is deeply mindful of the need to arm students with a combination of generalist and
specialist skills, and remain faithful to our founding spirit of providing art education that allows
students to function with true freedom as human beings, and producing artists of well-rounded
erudition.

National Role

MAU focuses not only on international activities but also on domestic relations with other
institutes and the industry.
Tama Academic Consortium (TAC) is an academic cooperative organization consisting of five
universities; International Christian University (ICU), Kunitachi College of Music, Tokyo Keizai
University, Tsuda Collage, and Musashino Art University all located in the Tama area. Also, MAU has been cooperating withTokyo Institute of Technology and Waseda University.
Musashino Art University actively develops collaborations in various forms with business entities and local governments such as Bridgestone, Mitsui Fudosan Co., CASIO and so on.
