International Role
The School of Design, East China Normal University has collaboration relationships with 51 universities in all over the world, and the BA 2+2, MFA 1+1+1 double degrees programs covered for all the course directions. It receives more and more international students. It had fundings from Erasmus and JoRISS Programs and organizes every year a high amount of international workshops, summer schools, joint research projects, and international conferences and lectures.
National Role
The core philosophy of the School of Design of East China Normal University is humanistic design. Relied on the humanities background of East China Normal University -the comprehensive university, it emphasizes the cross-disciplinary integration of design and art, design and technology, design and business, especially in the training of students' humanistic spirit, cultural accomplishment and artistic sense, which has a irreplaceable status and extensive social recognition in China and Shanghai.
East China Normal University has close relationships with the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University, China Academy of Art, Donghua University, Tongji University, Zhejiang University, and Jiangnan University.
