Cumulus is honored to deepen our collaboration with sister associations in Latin America. With Iberoamérica Diseña (ID) and Premio Nacional de Diseño: Diseña México we signed Memorandum of Understanding on Sunday 13 October 2024 in Mexico City in the event of Premio Nacional de Diseño during their annual award ceremony at Franz Meyer Museum.
On behalf of Iberoamérica Diseña, the signing was carried out by their President Manuel Estrada with the support of Carlos Hinrichsen whom many Cumulusians may know not only once having been the initiator for Cumulus 1st conference in November in Latin America in Santiago Chile connected with Helsinki as the World Design Capital in 2012. President Julio Julio Frias, President and Laura Figueroa President of Mexican Society of Designers took the great effort for initiating the partnership by Premio Nacional de Diseño: Diseña México. We also thank our Executive Board member and Vice-President Roberto Iniguez for bringing this partnership to serve our members. By Cumulus, President Lorenzo Imbesi and our SG Eija did this great fruitful formality for us.
The city for these unforgettable moments in the history of design and education and research in our disciplines is worth sharing a couple of pick-ups: Mexico City, the capital of Mexico and one of the largest and most vibrant metropolises in the world, is a place where history and modernity coexist in perfect harmony. Founded in 1325, today with close to 10 million inhabitants, by the Mexicas as Tenochtitlan, the city has a rich cultural heritage spanning nearly 700 years. These moments took place connected with our 2nd annual conference on 16-18 October in Monterrey 2024 hosted by our member universities TEC Monterrey and UDEM.
As previously already shared, Cumulus and DI Integra, Mexican Association of Schools and Institutions of Industrial Design signed an MOU on 16 October 2024, during the actual conference in Monterrey. This agreement was signed by Mariana Gonzalez, President of DI Integra and Luis Miguel Gutierrez, Vice-president as well as by Lorenzo and Eija. DI Integra voluntarily brings together the most recognized public and private higher education institutions of Industrial Design in Mexico. Learn more here http://di-integra.org.mx/.
