In reference to the cancellation, Cumulus has issued the following letter to its members.
Dear members and friends of Cumulus,
As we witness the developing tragedy of the Ukraine invasion and continue to hope for peace ahead, the current developments leave us no choice but to announce the cancellation of the upcoming Cumulus Conference: Un/touchable: New Meanings and Values originally planned to be held in Moscow and St. Petersburg next June 13-18, 2022.
Please know we are in close dialogue with the conference organizing team; everyone is deeply saddened and intends to honor the academic submissions to the conference that were received. We will have an update by late March on what next steps will be taken on this front, after the next convening of the Cumulus Executive Board.
Meanwhile, our thoughts are with all Cumulus members directly impacted by this war, and with the students, scholars, designers, and artists whose lives and work are being upended by the conflict. We express to all our sentiment of solidarity and support.
The Secretariat and our Board have started developing ideas to coordinate actions that may amplify the outpouring of support to the Ukraine art and design community. We will share updates with members on this as we have them.
With best wishes for peace to all,
On behalf of the Cumulus Executive Board,
Mariana Amatullo. Ph.D.
Cumulus President
