Mission Statement

The Technical School of Vilanova i la Geltrú is part of Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – Barcelona Tech, a public institution of research and higher education in the fields of engineering, architecture, sciences and technology, and one of the leading technical universities in Europe.

The Technical School of Vilanova i la Geltrú is a modern institution with a hundred years of history, specialising in technology, engineering and design. It aims at training professionals to work in an international and multidisciplinary environment, contributing to the promotion of entrepreneurship, research and technology transfer. 

International Role

The Technical School of Vilanova i la Geltrú is committed to the internationalisation of studies and research. For student mobility, it offers a project-based capstone programme, the European Project Semester (EPS), as part of a European network of EPS providers. The EPS is a one-semester interdisciplinary programme, worth 30 ECTS credits, that has been designed to train final-year engineering students to collaborate to develop real projects focusing on design, technology and sustainability. In the EPS programme, international teams of students work on real-life projects proposed by industry. 

National Role

The Technical School of Vilanova i la Geltrú collaborates with other Spanish Universities in teaching, research and technology transfer. As a university campus deeply rooted in its territory, it collaborates with the municipality of Vilanova i la Geltrú, local institutions and industry.

Bachelor Level Programs

The Technical School of Vilanova i la Geltrú offers a wide range of bachelor's programmes in engineering, technology and design: Industrial Electronics and Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Design and Product Development.

Master Level Programs

The Technical School of Vilanova i la Geltrú offers a Master's Degree in Automatics Systems Engineering and Industrial Electronics, the Master's Degree in Advanced Design Studies (MBDesign, jointly offered by Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and Universitat de Barcelona), Master's Degree in Railway Systems and Electric Traction.

Doctorate Level Programs

At the Technical School students have the possibility of pursuing PhD Studies through the UPC Doctoral School.

Subject Areas for Exchange Students

The Technical School of Vilanova i la Geltrú offers student exchange possibilities at the Bachelor's and Master's level: for regular courses, final thesis supervision and the European Project Semester. International students are offered a welcome/orientation week and can participate in a study buddies programme of collaboration with domestic students.

Application Deadlines

Application deadlines are linked to the start of each semester (the autumn semester runs from September to January and the spring semester from February to June). Information about specific application deadlines can be obtained by writing to the International Office ([email protected]).

Teaching Languages

Most courses are in Catalan and/or Spanish, with some courses taught in English. The international EPS programme is offered entirely in English and offers introductory Catalan and Spanish courses for international students.
