The role will involve teaching on a range of year one and design programmes and will require the successful applicant to lead skills development in modelmaking techniques and the integration of modelmaking into programme curricula. The role will involve close collaboration with Academic and Technical peers at LSAD to facilitate the progressive learning of ‘making’ skills and integration into the creative process of student work. Modelmaking and the ‘Making’ process provides a necessary creative process for a variety of Design disciplines to explore three-dimensional form, materiality, texture, space and movement. It also develops a critical problem solving and presentation skillset in design students. The successful applicant should demonstrate a high level of understanding for the benefit of these making skillsets in both the educational and practice environment and as a form of exploratory research in design. The successful candidate should be proficient in a broad range of modelmaking techniques, examples include but not limited to: Sketch modelling (foam, clay or other materials), Hand shaping, Card modelling, Wood working techniques for modelmaking, Electromechanical prototyping, 3D Printing, Rapid Prototyping, Digital 3D Modelling, Laser Cutting, Silicone and or Slip Casting, Spray painting and surface effects, Finishing and Presentation.
Candidates must have:
• A relevant degree (level 8) with First or Second Class Honours of a recognised third level institution; or equivalent qualification.

Not Less than 3 years of satisfactory relevant and acceptable post qualification experience in a relevant sector/industry setting. Desirable:
The University would particularly welcome applications from candidates with the following qualifications/experience:
• Previous lecturing experience at third level.
• Qualifications/ industry experience in design, hand and analogue modelmaking and/or digital fabrication
• Experience and knowledge of Design, Modelmaking & Fabrication practices, and trends nationally & internationally.
• Evidence of mastery in Design & modelmaking and/or digital fabrication skills.
• Doctorate (PhD) (highly desirable) or master’s Qualification in a relevant design or modelmaking discipline.
