Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) undertake tutorial, laboratory, workshop and classroom teaching duties in essential skills for spatial and interior design undergraduate students including teaching technology and construction for interior designers, teaching and tutoring techniques and visualisation skills in 2D and 3D representation (including hand sketching, perspective drawing, 3D modelling, technical drawing, detail drawing, rendering, model making and CAD/CAM modelling), integrated drawing systems and basic presentation communication related skills;
(b) develop knowledge transfer components relevant to spatial settings and associated technologies;
(c) undertake teaching duties, supervise student projects, and develop course work and laboratory work;
(d) assess student achievement and academic performance;
(e) assist in project and development work for academic and research activities;
(f) provide support to the environment and interior design related research labs of the School; and
(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean of School, programme leader or their delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a) have a master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or related fields;
(b) have at least two years of post-qualification relevant teaching and/or professional practice experience;
(c) have good connection with the third sector and the cultural industry locally;
(d) have good knowledge of design and critical theories and be able to teach systems thinking skills under the interdisciplinary design context of the School;
(e) be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and experience in innovative pedagogical approach; and
(f) be highly proficient in written and spoken English, and have good communication and interpersonal skills.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
