Typography Day will be held for the sixteenth time on 26th, 27th and 28th of October 2023 hosted by Department of Applied Arts, Faculty of Visual Arts Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (BHU Varanasi) in collaboration with the IDC School of Design (IDC), Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) with support from India Design Association (InDeAs) and Aksharaya.<\/p>\n

The theme for this year’s event is ‘The Sacred and Typography’.<\/p>\n

The event will feature workshops on Typography and Calligraphy followed by conference dedicated to ‘Sacred and Typography’. The international conference will be devoted to addressing issues faced by type designers, type users and type educators. The conference includes presentations by invited keynote speakers, eminent academicians, industry professionals, research scholars and students. The event will also host an exhibition of selected posters from the Poster Design Competition.<\/p>\n

The event is planned over three days:
\nDay 1: Workshops on Typography + Typography Quiz<\/p>\n

Day 2 & 3: Conference focusing on \u2018The Sacred and Typography\u2019 + Meet on \u2018Research in Typography\u2019 \/ \u2018Type Design Critique Session\u2019<\/p>\n

Day 1 & 3: Exhibition of Poster Design Competition + Exhibition of Typographic works from Design Schools + Typographic Installations<\/p>\n

The Conference will focus on the following issues:
\n– Experiments and Explorations in typography
\n– Cross-cultural typography
\n– typography
\n– Typography design with multilingual scripts
\n– Typography design in native (indigenous) Scripts
\n– Typography design within local contexts
\n– Research activities in typography
\n– Use of Technologies in design of typefaces
\n– Education in local language typography<\/p>\n
