Does Life There Matter? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Travelling in a spacecraft, living on a moon base, exploring Mars or working in a spacesuit – all these activities must be safe and comfortable for humans to perform. This will depend on how living facilities, extraterrestrial habitats and astronaut clothing are designed. The Extraterrestrial Design Panel will present and discuss how spacecraft and space stations are currently designed, how astronauts eat, sleep and work during a space mission, and future plans for moon bases, trips to Mars, missions to nearby asteroids and space tourism, including hotels in orbit around the Earth and space gymnasiums for sports and games. <\/p>\n

The panel will be divided into four talks, covering relevant aspects of human space exploration related to the design of space furniture, clothes, exercise devices, entertainment tools, and living facilities in Earth\u2019s orbit, and on the Moon and Mars. A final discussion will address how students and space professionals can propose better and more advanced ways to design space living environments, habitats and suits. <\/p>\n
