EESC Design Eleven - 2011 "European Design Award for A Sustainable Present" 30 May 2011
The European Commission Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry and CUMULUS (International Association of Universities and Colleges of Art, Design and Media) have joined forces in order to increase the communication impact and enhance European institutions' and organisations' involvement in sustainable design practices and innovation.
Last weeks to participate in EESC DESIGN ELEVEN
"AGELESS DESIGN - Design for all generations"
EESC Design Eleven - 2011 "European Design Award for A Sustainable Present" is addressed to design students and designers from the 27 EU Member States and European designers living abroad. Around 150 applications have already been sent from 21 countries and more are expected before the deadline on 30 May 2011. Participants should be inspired by the theme "Intergenerational solidarity in times of an ageing population" and create innovative and pertinent solutions in terms of "ageless design". Processes of participative design (final users taking part in the design process) and/or co-design (cross-generation team-building - young and elder designers collaborations) can be used to obtain the final product.
The European Commission Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry, CUMULUS (International Association of Universities and Colleges of Art, Design and Media) and EIDD (Design for All Europe) are backing this initiative which aims at raising awareness on sustainable design practices and innovation.
The design award was launched by the European Economic and Social Committee in 2009 to enhance global awareness on social and civil society issues.
