The following appointment is to be made for the Winter semester 2012/13 commencing 1st October at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Schwaebisch Gmuend.

Product and Process Design
specialising in visualising and simulation
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities include teaching the entire range of analogue and digital visualising and simulation in 2D, 3D and 4D for all phases of the design process from the analysis, conception and idea development through drawing to the design and its realisation. In addition developing future methods for design modelling and representation of products, product systems, processes and services also in connection to other subject areas represented within the Hochschule especially interaction design. You will be teaching BA and MA students through lectures, seminars and the tutoring of projects in the areas of product and process design; sometimes in cooperative projects with other institutions. Your teaching commitment will be for 18 contact hours each week and you will be expected to contribute to the administration of the Hochschule. The duties of the position are defined in § 46 LHG.
Qualifications & Requirements:
A successfully completed university degree in design and/or a related discipline with an excellent professional record in the specialist field described above and the didactic ability to enthuse students and convincingly communicate the subject. At least 5 years successful professional practice in the field of product design, process design, architecture or service design with at least 3 of those years outside academia. Finally, you should also be prepared to teach in English.
In the case of first appointments the duration of the contract will be limited. If the candidate's aptitude for the requirements of civil servants have been confirmed – usually after a period of three years – tenure-track equivalent status will be granted.
