Job Description

In addition to the existing professorship in the field of “Interface Design“

we are looking to fill a part-time vacancy (teaching assignment: 9 units per week) focusing on Interaction Design. The candidate should be highly qualified and able to represent the field in both theory and practice as well as through continued development of theoretical and rigorous research. The successful applicant will be expected to develop and teach analytical, conceptional and creative skills for the realization of interactive forms and formats on both the BA and MA courses at KISD.

 

Responsibilities

Design-related issues, methods and their constructive critical use, should be communicated, independent of specific technical issues, in projects, seminars and theses. Emphasis is placed on application design, interaction design and interactive, context-sensitive network based communication systems, each closely linked to creative teaching, theoretical reflexion and relevant research.

Candidates should be able to coordinate various aspects of their work: analysis, activity-based and use-based design (human-object interaction), the systematic observation of and discussion about people’s activities and interaction with artifacts, the development of systems, system and information architectures as well as the development of context-based interface and interaction concepts. Key aspects should be the development of innovative mobile (and local) interactive usage as well as the development of new collaborative methods of teaching and learning, including new communicative technologies and implementations.

 

Your profile

Appropriate university degree in design, preferably a Ph.D. in a relevant field, particular aptitude for independent and analytical work, pedagogical aptitude as well as at least five years of successful vocational practice (of which three years have to be outside the academic sector, ideally several years of experience in the field of Interaction Design). A widespread and international network and designated activities in relevant associations and interest groups (design-research context) are an advantage. Good command of the German language is a prerequisite.
